Stephen Anderson 

Partner, Womble Bond Dickinson 

Stephen joined Womble Bond Dickinson in January 2019 after having spent twelve years working in-house, formerly with NATS and then with BAE Systems. Stephen was previously Senior Counsel to the Maritime Services division of BAE Systems. Prior to his in-house career, Stephen spent six years working with a major private practice law firm.

Victoria Ferguson 

Managing Associate (Practice Development Lawyer), Womble Bond Dickinson 

Victoria joined the firm in June 2022 having previously trained and worked as a solicitor at Dickinson Dees between 2002 and 2006 in the Commercial team and having previously worked as an in-house lawyer for the Met Office leading the Contracts team. Victoria is an Associate Practice Development Lawyer for the Commercial team. She has nearly 20 years experience in drafting, advising and negotiating the full range of commercial agreements both nationally and internationally and in both a private and public sector context.

Ashley Borthwick

Ashley specialises in regulatory compliance and litigation.  

He is instructed by leading brands to advise and deliver workshops in relation to all types of risk and compliance matters relating to consumer protection, trading standards, advertising and marketing, environmental, food labelling, safety and hygiene, and health and safety issues. He is independently recognised as being well regarded for product safety, compliance and recall work.

Linda Middleton-Jones 

Managing Director, International Trade Matters

Headed by Managing director, Linda Middleton-Jones the International Trade Matters team comprises decades of experience in import/export processes, global supply chains and overseas business development. Linda has more than 25 years’ experience in international commerce across manufacturing, nuclear and aviation sectors from her base in South West England. She is an accomplished professional with extensive overseas know-how. A graduate of the University of Plymouth and Universidad de Barcelona (LLB{Hons}) and a Member of the Institute of Export (MIEx(Grad)), she also has qualifications gained from both CMI & MIT Sloan in Leadership and Team building. Most recently, she has pioneered the creation of the highly successful Global Blueprint Programme which is specifically designed for businesses preparing to begin their exporting journey or develop global markets though a unique blend of holistic business analysis and planning tools. Linda has organised, led and participated in successful missions and welcomed delegations to the South West by facilitating introductions and networking opportunities. She has been responsible for promoting specific sector developments in Europe, Russia, the Mediterranean and Central America. Her expertise has allows her to guide her clients towards exporting strategies covering routes to market through market research, smart procurement and contract compliance. Adept at recognising and guiding sustainable international growth she introduces continual improvement tools through the Export House methodology she developed.

Senior Customs Duty Consultant,

Nick joined Barbourne Brook as a highly experienced Customs Duty Consultant, bringing extensive customs and trade compliance expertise. He began his career at HMRC, where he played a pivotal role in the Large Businesses Department, overseeing customs duties and authorisations for significant sectors such as automotive OEMs, pharmaceuticals, and food while gaining valuable experience across various industries.  At HMRC, Nick assessed duties and granted key authorisations, including AEO, Customs Warehouse, and IP, ensuring strict adherence to complex regulatory standards. After transitioning to the private sector, he spent over six years with a leading consultancy and accountancy firm, providing invaluable support to hundreds of clients on a wide range of customs matters. With a proven track record in delivering comprehensive training, addressing post-Brexit challenges, resolving HMRC disputes, and managing authorisation applications, his expertise in Classification, Valuation, and Origin enables him to offer tailored advice to clients navigating the complexities of customs regulations. Additionally, Nick possesses specialised knowledge in the automotive sector, particularly in customs valuation. His ability to navigate the intricate details of legislation, contractual obligations, origin rules, and other regulatory complexities makes him a trusted advisor and a valued member of our team.
