Procurement is involved in many areas of operations activities. This event debates new strategies and approaches to maximising the value that can be found through procurement for a variety of organisations. Speakers are drawn from private and public spheres, with discussion from the Leeds Business school staff of the latest research and academic engagement in the area.

EVENT SPEAKERS

Gillian Askew

Director, Go4Growth

Gill Askew is a procurement professional by trade, a Chartered Fellow of CIPS, and has spent almost 30 years in Procurement in both private and public sector. She is also a long-standing small business owner and currently has a broad portfolio of activities, all united by a drive to embed social value and sustainability into procurement with a focus on widening participation for smaller organisations and helping to build resilience and sustainable growth in local economies. She is Director and Co-Founder of Go4Growth, a marketplace development organisation dedicated to helping smaller organisations and the voluntary sector to gain the knowledge, skills and tools required to be fully equipped to take part in public sector work. .


Martyn Shaw

Deputy Chief Executive, WDH (Wakefield and District Housing)

Martyn is Deputy Chief Executive of the 32,000 home WDH.  He is a collaborative and transformational leader with extensive experience in both housing and private sectors.


Dr Gregory Barnes

Senior Lecturer in Strategy, Operations and Management, Leeds Beckett University

Greg is an experienced public procurement professional having managed many major procurement projects and frameworks over an 18 year career before joining LBU as a Lecturer and researcher in supply chain, procurement, and risk management. He has been a member of the CIPS for many years, and is a CIPS branch committee member. 


Dr Alfred Chinta

Course Director, Leeds Beckett University 

A supply chain professional with experience in multiple sectors of industry who combines the power of analysis , problem solving and Enterprise IT solutions to develop new solutions to contemporary organisations. Alfred has a proactive and outcome focused emphasis to his work that spans practice and academic worlds.


Dr Hajar Fatorachian

Supply Chain Management Course Leader, Leeds Beckett University

Hajar is an experienced researcher and writer in the field of innovative technology solutions and digitalisation for the supply and logistics industries. Her work on digitalisation has lead to her role as MSC Supply Chain Management course leader, and Research Cluster Lead for Innovation and Sustainability.
