Event Details

In response to escalating supply chain pressures the Chamber Low Carbon team introduced the Destination Net Zero programme giving them the background to Net Zero and the providing them with support to identify their carbon emissions, calculate their greenhouse gas inventory (carbon footprint and produce a carbon reduction plan in line with the Cabinet Office’s template.

Responding to the IPCC 6th Assessment Synthesis Report the Chamber Low Carbon Team have updated and revamped to the Destination Net Zero support to Mach II – The Need for Speed!

The workshop will include the following:

  • What is Net Zero
  • The difference between Net Zero and Carbon Neutrality

  • How to identify and map your greenhouse gas emissions

  • Where to get your activity data from

  • How to calculate your carbon footprint

  • How to devise your carbon reduction plan

  • How to present your carbon reduction plan

  • Simple Excel based greenhouse gas inventory calculation tool.

Stephen Sykes

Director of Sustainability, East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce

Stephen has 16 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing environment followed by 11 years of Environmental Regeneration activities and a further 11 years commercial consultancy.

He co-founded the world's first United Nations recognised local 2030 hub, promoting and engaging the private, public and community sectors in the UN Sustainable Development Goals for the Liverpool City Region and further afield.

Skills and Experience (so far) include:

Environmental Management Systems; Carbon Footprinting; Resource Efficiency Reviews; Environmental Awareness Training; Waste Management Applications; Health and Safety Policies; Risk Assessments and Method Statements; Health and Safety Training; Quality Assurance Management Systems; Policy Research; Project and Programme Evaluations; Event Organisation; Corporate Social Responsibility

Stephen has also participated in international projects in Belgium, Ukraine, Romania and Japan

Specialties: As well as commercial consultancy I have had 11 years of experience developing, managing and delivering UK Government and European Funded Programmes (Objective One and ESF).
